Mahesh Dattani is a well-known Indian playwright who is recognized for writing plays that dive deeply into the intricate fabric of Indian culture and often touch topics that are regarded to be taboo. His paintings often exhibit a strong social conscience and bring attention to a variety of social concerns that are present in today's society. Within the context of Indian culture, Dattani's plays are notable for the way in which they investigate topics such as sexuality, gender, and interpersonal relationships. In his novels, Dattani is able to weave together personal hardships and larger societal concerns, which is one of the features that sets him apart from other authors.
